No. 12684765 Working in Chelmsford ## What it's like fitting glazing in Chelmsford Chelmsford has one of the broadest property mixes in Essex — Edwardian terraces around Moulsham, 1930s semis through Broomfield, and rapid new-build growth at Beaulieu Park and Channels. Each comes with its own glazing brief, and a Springfield bay-window replacement looks nothing like a Beaulieu Park bi-fold install. Our fitting van runs the A12, A130 and A414 most weeks, which is why a typical Chelmsford survey is in the diary inside three to five working days. Installs are handled by a in-house fitting team — same crew on day one and day five. We're regularly on rear extensions in Great Baddow and Writtle, full-house window replacements in Springfield, and roof-lantern fits on single-storey extensions across the CM1 and CM2 postcodes. Chelmsford City Council is the local authority for Certass notification and building control — both handled on your behalf as standard. Postcodes: **CM1, CM2 and CM3** · Neighbourhoods: Springfield, Great Baddow, Moulsham, Writtle, Old Moulsham, Broomfield · Local landmarks: Chelmsford Cathedral, Hylands Park, Central Park, the A12 corridor. Who runs your job ### Billy Hutcherson Director, Bi Folds & Windows Direct of Essex Ltd Billy is the director of Bi Folds & Windows Direct of Essex Ltd — a family-run business incorporated on 20 June 2020 (Companies House No. 12684765) that supplies and installs aluminium bi-fold doors, uPVC and aluminium windows, composite front doors and roof lanterns directly to homeowners across Essex, Kent and Hertfordshire. What we see locally ## Common bi-fold doors problems in Chelmsford Patterns that come up specifically because of Chelmsford's housing stock — typical property age, build style, and local exposure. ### Failed sealed units in 1990s estates A lot of Springfield and Great Baddow housing stock was glazed in the early '90s. Sealed units have a 20–25-year service life, and the misting and condensation we get called out to is almost always end-of-life seal failure rather than poor cleaning. ### Draughty Edwardian sash windows in Moulsham Original sashes around Moulsham and Old Moulsham can be carefully refurbished or replaced like-for-like with timber-effect frames, improving U-values while keeping the period appearance — important in conservation areas. ### Bi-fold tracks fouling on uneven extension floors We see this often on owner-built extensions in the CM2 area. The bottom track needs to be perfectly level — we shim or re-bed where needed at survey, before we order the doors. ### New-build window seal degradation Several Beaulieu Park and Channels-era homes are now 8–12 years in and seeing first-run gasket failure. A replacement gasket set extends frame life by another decade. Recent work ## Recent installs in Chelmsford Customer-supplied install photography is added to this gallery as it becomes available.
