How Long Does It Take to Install Bifold Doors?

How a prepared opening differs from a replacement or a new structural opening.

Black-framed bifold doors folded to the side of a red-brick extension, opening a kitchen onto the patio

The installation time for bifold doors depends on the project.

A straightforward replacement into a prepared opening is very different from a project requiring an existing window and wall to be removed to create a new opening.

    Installing into a prepared opening

For extensions and new-build projects where the structural opening has already been correctly prepared, installation can be relatively straightforward.

The opening must still be checked to ensure it is suitable for the manufactured doors.

    Replacing existing doors

Where existing patio, French or bifold doors are being replaced, the existing products first need to be carefully removed.

The new frame can then be installed, glazed, adjusted and finished.

    Creating a completely new opening

Additional time and trades may be required where building work is involved.

Structural work should be properly designed and completed before the new doors are installed.

    Survey before manufacture

Because bifold doors are manufactured specifically for the opening, getting the final manufacturing dimensions correct is critical.

Bi Folds & Windows Direct offers supply-only and supply-and-installation aluminium bifold doors throughout Essex and surrounding areas.
